For our client, a leading brand in surface materials, we are looking for a Group Controller. Are you a seasoned accountant with experience in a product centric or manufacturing environment? Do you enjoy travelling abroad every month? We are looking for you! 

Organisatie

Our client is the inventor of a certain high-end surface material which is used in a variety of everyday products/goods by manufacturing companies worldwide for decades. They have divisions worldwide.  Their European activities are centralised within their coordination office within Schiphol-Rijk. At the coordination office you are supported by the Managing Director, Finance Director, two Business analysts and a trainee, in addition there are support teams throughout Europe to support the Finance and IT operation. To this highly ambitious team, a group Controller will be added to manage all aspects of financial accounting and consolidation of the group. The group Controller will report to the Finance Director and will become part of the bigger finance team that consists of ~15 professionals.

Key in this role is compelling logic. The basics must be done right before anything else can happen. Focus areas are: solid financial accounting and consolidation, intra- / inter- and cross company pricing and eliminations modelling. In the role, the group controller will follow accounting standards as captured in the group accounting manual of the shareholder and will apply strong rigor and discipline to ensure flawless accounting and consolidated financial reports to the shareholder.

Functie

  • Running a tight ship on basic financial accounting; clean general ledgers, simple accounting, on-time and in full (consolidated) reporting.
  • Consolidated reporting of Europe divisions
  • Lead the integration of financial consolidation & reporting of Europe 
  • Simplify the existing technical set-up of the accounting system.
  • Intrinsically drive improvement efforts on financial controls and the control framework.
  • Annual accounts – completing the end of year annual statutory accounts and full cooperation to Finance Director during the audit. Liaise effectively with external auditors and the shareholder.
  • Perform month end closure accounting procedures and prepare consolidated statements to be shared with multiple stakeholders.
  • Interim audit accounts – consolidated accounts as per the shareholder’ requirements.
  • Support the Finance Director in the business planning cycle with relevant reporting packs.
  • Support the finance team of the shareholder on any accounting request / inquiries.
  • Support in further improving fiscal compliance (CIT, VAT, transfer pricing) and the tax framework.

Functie-eisen

The profile:

  • Accountant at heart and likes the nitty gritty details thereof. Acknowledges the importance of a strong financial fundament as basis for business control.
  • Seasoned accountant with first-hand experience in accounting, consolidation, elimination and preparing statutory accounts.
  • Extensive work experience in a product centric or manufacturing environment is essential.
  • Master’s in Accounting or similar.
  • A pro-active nature to the business and takes the initiative to reach out to people within the organization.
  • Not afraid to travel to the different financial teams in Newcastle and Kolho during month closure and statutory accounts work to pull part of the weight.
  • Estimated 3-4 days a month traveling abroad while the rest of the time is spent in the Schiphol office.

Skills/Knowledge:

  • Fluent in English (no Dutch required)
  • Solid understanding of accounting software and systems (amongst others IBM Cognos TM1, Infor LX, Bassware and Qlicksense).
  • Strong financial modelling skills – advanced at excel / Alteryx.

Aanbod

Salary yearly ranging €80k – €100k excluding bonuses based on experience
